I 'spy' Steam Punk

Have you noticed that the Steam Punk movement that has been popular in the stamping world for a while now has gone mainstream?  I have been seeing it everywhere!  From displays, to things you can buy; such as wall hangings, clocks and even lamps.  I have in fact seen Steam Punked table lamps at two different stores.  Always excites me when I see a trend showing up elsewhere that we stampers have been "doing" for a while.  I have even noticed our trends on television before, lol.

What about you what stamping trends have you noticed while out shopping lately?  Any good Steam Punk merchandise?  The stores I was at were way too crowded to stop and take pictures.  Okay truth, I was too chicken to let people see me taking the pictures.  LOL!

Have you made Paper Art dolls?  I have been in several Paper Art Doll swaps and even hosted a Santa doll swap recently over at RSC.  They are so very addicting once you start making them.  We have been talking about starting an art doll group after the holidays at RSC and we would love to have you come join us.  You would have to be a member of Rubber Stamp Chat to belong to the group (see badge on right) but everyone over there is so nice and helpful that I'm sure you will be calling it home before you know it!  Here are some of the dolls I've made:

I'm still in learning mode but found this pictorial I had done a while back for Rubber Stamp Chat friends (aka RSC) and thought I'd share.  The third instruction should say add layers of Crystal Lacquer or similar product and let dry completely between layers.

and here are a couple snowflakes I made using the Faux Opals.  Hope you give them a try:

I am a stay at home mom, although more stay at home than mom these days as my son is a high school senior.  My first stamp set was a Hanna Barbera Cartoons set I received as a little girl, sadly they are mostly dust now.  Mom put them away for me in the attic and come to find out they are partly made of clay so a "hot Texas attic" was not a good idea.

I fell in love with stamping again years later while on a family reunion in the south-western region on Missouri.  This would have been in the 80's.  The reunion is an annual event and occasionally some of us would go to Branson before returning home to Texas.  I saw a woman heat embossing some cards while at Engler's mall and had to have the stuff to do it.

The stamp I purchased that day was the PSX light house and I will treasure it always.  I also bought small blue, black and gold pigment ink cubes as well as a vial of PSX Antique Gold Embossing powder.  I still have the hints and tips sheet the stamp store owner gave me, explaining how to heat the powder without a heat gun.  Lol, how many of you have tried this one?  Lightbulbs, coffee burners and toaster do no make for a fun stamping experience.  Needless to say it didn't take long before I was saving $$ to buy a Marvy heat gun.  Then I needed more stamps, more inks, more stamps, paper, more stamps, you get the idea.  After all if you are reading this blog then you are probably a "collector" too.

Here is a card I made recently with that PSX stamp.  It felt really good to pull out my ol' friend and use him after such a long time.  The verse is from Stamping Sensations, embossed borders are Cuttlebug and the brad is Memory Makers.  The die cut layers are a combo of 2 different Spellbinder die sets and I don't remember who or what I used sorry.  This is a get well card made during a very stressful period this past summer and will have to be a post for another time.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my into.  Chat with y'all soon!
